27 July 2010 Please explain the journal entry for transferring the cheques to stale cheque account.

27 July 2010 open a new GL account called 'stale cheques a/c'

journal entry is

Bank a/c dr (whichever bank chq was issued)
To Stale cheques a/c

this will remove the cheques from your BRS. however, a schedule of stale cheques a/c shd be maintained with cheque no. for future tracking.
