St on freight by mfg

26 September 2016 Dear Experts,
We are mfg concern not service provider hence not registered in ST, on transportation of raw materials transporter is asking us to pay 30% ST under RCM as we are not registered in ST how can we pay ST. Pls guide us weather we need to take ST registration only to pay 30% ST or not,

26 September 2016 Sir i think i case of RCM if we are under
SSI then No Need to obtain ST Registration
Given the fact we are 100% mfg hence it should not be applicable to us?

26 September 2016 If you are a company then RCM applicable. Pay the service tax and claim refund as you are a SSI unit.

Actually one of my friend who is contractor in his case RCM also applicable but as he is availing SSI exemption No is paying his 50% ST portion,
is this correct,
