Small service provider exemption

16 March 2017 Dear Experts,

A service provider start his business in Sep 2016 and his turnover not exceed Rs.10.00 Lacs. Is he required to get Service tax registration.

If second and third year Turnover exceed Rs.10.00Lacs then he can Small service provider exemption?

Please clarify the same.

16 March 2017 1st year-there is no requirement of service tax registration
2nd Year-can claim SSP exemption
3rd Year-No exemption

If his turnover not exceed Rs.10.00 Lacs at all then he is required to get registration.

16 March 2017 Its optional but not mandatory. If exceeds 10 lacs than mandatory, if not than optional to get registration.
