Short deduction of tds

11 November 2010 I short deducted and paid tds of the party but gave full amount certificate .

but now i want to pay it.

My query is how i add this challan in the revised e -tds return.what should i write in the gross amount colomn in the return,as i already mentioned full amount in the e-tds return .

say for example on Rs. 1000 gross amount of contractor i deducted 150 as tds and mention like this (gross amt Rs.1000 and tds on this Rs. 150)in the tds return but now I want to pay the bal of Rs. 50 through challn and add it in the e-tds revised return so that my party get correct credit of the same .but how i mention this diff amount of Rs. 50 in the return.what should i mention in gross amount colomn on which tds deducted.

12 November 2010 Yes, you can able to pay the balance amount by help of auditor. but, you need to pay tds amount with interest and if penalty applicable. and you need to collect the original tds certificate from the party and you can revise the certificate after finishing the above said.

The credit of earlier return is not show to the party to whom you have deduced the tax, simple pay the tax & revise the return.

You can check the return status through tin-nsdl.com web site.
