18 June 2011 Whats the procedure for surrender of service tax registration?????

18 June 2011 1. You need to write a letter to Service TAx officer for surrender along with original service tax certificate

2.Service Officer after receiving letter from you will cancel your service registration no.

3. you will get an acknowledgement

18 June 2011 Registration surrendering has to be done through online.
Visit www.aces.gov.in
Create userid and password if not yet created.
login to the site.
click on 'REG'.
Click on 'surrender'.
click on 'registration number'.
fillup the last three columns in the ST-2 appearing therein.
click on 'surrender ST-2'.
On successful e-filing, take a print out sign and seal, enclose original ST-2 and file before the jurisdictional Superintendent under acknowledgement.

19 June 2011 The first question is why you want to surrender your registration?
1) Is your turnover is less than the exempted one.
2) Have you discontinued the business?
3) Any other reason.

If it is so then follow the opinion as given by C. A. Suresh Gounder and B. Chakkarpani
