05 July 2007 Ours is a IT Company engaged in both Software and BPO.Whether it is easier to claim reabte on service tax or should one go for Cenvat refund under Central sales Tax. One of my colleuge has suggested me gto go for refund as claiming service tax rebate is very combursome and impractical.

12 July 2007 It is always beneficial to go for rebate thing. it will also have an +ve impact on your cash flows

16 July 2007 I am a bit confused with the question.

First - there is nothing like rebate on service tax under service tax law.

Second - There is no provision for refund of Cenvat. Cenvat can only be utilised to discharge Central Excise Duty/Service Tax.

Third - Cenvat refund is certainly not under Central Sales Tax.
