01 December 2008 dear sir,
we are dealing with event management service provider. i want to charged service tax on services provided to foreign customer.

i want to know the service tax rate for that is it there is new service tax rate for that

01 December 2008 can you clarify me whether the consideration is received in foreign currency or INR and whether the service is provided in the foreign country.

02 December 2008 If it is in India and consideration in INR so it is not export of service and St has to be charged at the rate 12.36%

02 December 2008 we r event management co. based in India. In one of our event we r hireing services of foreign artists for indian event. On behalf of indian client we are already paid him in foreign currency. we now want to raise the bill to the client in india.

for this reason we would like to know wheather we charged service tax @ 12.36% or if there is any other clause of tax for that purpose.
