Service tax on Rent on commercial premises is to charged or no ?
And if so, what is the effective date.

The Supreme Court had asked the high courts to dispose off all the pending writ petitions in the matter of renting of immovable property...Delhi High Court is yet to announce its decision in this respect.
Stay granted by Delhi High Court has been vacated by SC, therefore, till the final outcome of the case, it is advisable that rent should be collected and deposited with the government...the department has also come out with a circular stating that officers should take steps for recovery of service tax on renting of commercial property.
