Service tax on rent of warehouse

19 June 2013 Sir, my client has constructed a Warehouse in rural area under Gramin Bhandar yogna and given on rent to Haryana State Co-op. supply and marketing federation ltd(HAFED)for ten years. Pls advise me, whether service tax is applicable or not on above rent.

19 June 2013 If annual turnover would get exceed 10lakhs then service tax is applicable otherwise not...

20 June 2013 There is some confusion to charge the service tax on warehouse rent. Opinion of some professional in this matter is that warehouse will be used for storage of agriculture produce. so service tax will not be applicable on that. kindly clarify the position.

20 June 2013 You have given warehouse on rent and Rent is a taxable service.
