We are a partnership firm dealing in retail supply of machinery parts. etc. We have to pay freight to transporters for carrying machinery from other states.. Are we liable to pay service tax on the freight payment ?

Yes, you are liable to pay service tax on reverse charge basis. However you can avail abatement of 70% and should pay only 30% to government

yes you have to pay 30% on the freight value . service tax 14.5% on that value . form 1.6.2016 its 15% service tax rate applicable.
