Service tax on freight payment

19 June 2015 Dear sir,

we have to pay freight to transporter of machines purchased.Is service tax will be paid by us or transporters & rate of tds.

19 June 2015 Service has to paid by you under Reverse charge mechanism.

As per the recent changes in the provision of TDS w.e.f 01/06/2015 you need to deduct the TDS. However the exemption can be given if the transporter gives a declaration stating that he does not own more than 10 goods carriage in the financial year and he provides you his valid PAN duly certified.
