Hi.
i have recd a Clearing Handling Agent Invoice. in that inv. they have charged handling charged, Documentation, Transportation alongwith Service Tax.
my query is that they have charged service tax on Transportation & transporter inv also shown our name as A/c ABC Co.
pls advice we should pay service tax on transporter to them or not.
if yes then who will take input after payment of service tax under revs. mech.

it is better you pay the service tax to transporter, so that you can claim the input credit. (Unless of course this clearing agent has kept some margin in transporter charges as well, he need not get scared in giving you a direct bill of transporter.)

CHA has also provided us the transporter inv/LR copy. he has kept no margin with us & now he has also sabmitted the service tax under revs. mech so finally i should pay the service tax to him or not.
i think i also should get a declaration from him that he is not going to get the input that he had paid, becouse we are the ultimate user of that particar service.
