16 October 2008 i am an owner of a land and i want to make a joint venture with a pvt ltd co in which i am also a shareholder .the point is that , wheather i have to pay service tax on devolopping exp to the pvt ltd co.

If i am not the shareholder of that company then also i have to pay service taxor not when we are the co venturer.
The story is as below;
I am the owner of the land.
The pvt ltd will devolop a complex and i will receive certain % of profit.
In this situation wheather i have to pay tax or not

18 October 2008 Srvice tax liability is on the person who provides taxable services. If you do not provide taxable service no liability. You have not mentioned the nature of 'joint venture' which may have a bearing on the answer. Ol.clarify.
