what is service tax & service charge?

service charge refers to charge collected by service providers (normally restaurants and hotels) in addition to the price charged for food. this is an income for the service provider.
service tax on the other hand is the tax charged as per finance act 1994 on the service provided. so there would be service tax on the service charge too!
