Dear sir
I attained the age of 60 years on 24 april 2017. please advise whether i will be treated as senior citizen for financial year 2017-2018 for income tax benefits.

Yes, if you complete 60 years in April 2017 than you will get all benefit of Senior citizens.

"senior citizen" means an individual resident in India who is of the age of sixty years or more at any time during the relevant previous year. Since, you attained the age of 60 in the month of April 17, therefore, you shall be treated as Senior Citizen for the FY 2017-18.
