24 May 2010 Whether Octroi charges paid in cash above Rs. 20000 will be disallowed u/s 40A(3)?

24 May 2010 As per the second proviso of Sec 40A(3) in the case of payment made for plying, hiring or leasing goods carriages, the amount of Rs. 20000 is substituted by Rs 35000.

So if in your case, if the payment of Octroi duty is related to plying, hiring or leasing goods carriages, then the amount of limit is increased to Rs.35000

25 May 2010 IF amount realted to payment towards governemnt, then, there is no limit, any amount paid in cash is allowed. Refer Rule 6BB.

06 March 2013 what if octroi is paid by a company through its agent like safe express pvt ltd in cash for example our client had hired above mentioned co to pay octroi on their behalf and they charge their service charge on it whether it will be disallowed u/s 40a(3) if paid in cash
