I am engaged in selling books online. I am basically a publisher. Books are exempt from CST.
Am I still liable to register under VAT/CST.

A dealer crossing the threshold(Rs2 or 5 lahs) figure of taxable sale in a year is liable to be registered under VAT/CST.
Taxable sale is a must even in the case of other dealers also.
