Revised return of income

This query is : Resolved

25 November 2014 Return of income is physically filed with total income less than Rs. 5000000/-. Now return needs to be revised after revision the total income works out more than Rs. 500000/- and in that case it is compulsory to file return electronically. However the acknowledgement number of original physically filed return is not accepted by the efiling portal of income tax department and message of invalid acknowledgement number appears on the screen. In such situation how revised return can be filed electronically.

25 November 2014 i think in such case u must meet ao and then file as its mismatching in ur case

25 November 2014 Thanks Mr. Tushar
AOs are not that much knowledgeable in technology matter. They don't understand the what the actual problem is. I have tried that too but not got the results.

25 November 2014 but then there is no other way as its very unique situation and i think electronically u cant file as u dont have e-ack no...

25 November 2014 Just 10 minutes ago I called CPC Bangalore and they are saying you have to file as original return.
I have no problem in filing return as original but in that case which return will be processed i.e whether physically filed return or e-filed return. On that question a representative from CPC Bangalore is saying it depends on CPC which return will be processed. So I think there is fault in the system and I am not sure what to do

25 November 2014 Give letter to AO, where you filed the physical return, not to process it as you have filed revised return in electronic mode in view of mandatory requirement, quoting acknowledgement No.

25 November 2014 better u request to cbdt u/s 119 (2)b to allow u to file physically as electronically it wont accept.
