I have received notice u/s 143 for a.y. 2011 - 12 demanding bcz they fail to consider advance tax payment, while going through our records we observe we have file wrong ITR i.e. advance tax payment reveals Rs. 65,000/- instead of 1,10,000/- (26AS reflects correct i.e. 1,10,000). The same advance tax payment has not considered by assessing officer. I want to know, whether is there required to file revised return for a.y. 2011 - 12 or mere letter to such assessing officer be enough to solve this problem ?

03 January 2013 it is advisable to file revised return before 31.03.13. this will prevent the AO from having a leverage.
Simultaneously also file a letter requesting for considering the advance tax payment along with the tax paid challand and a copy of your 26AS
in my view, its a minor issue which should get sorted easily.
