29 November 2011 I have to file service Tax return of NiL Tax for the period of April 2011 to sept 2011 wheather it is mandatory to file e-return online ( NO services has offer during that period actually recently i have obtain STC code)

02 December 2011 Yes, As per recent amendment in Rule 7 of Service Tax Rules, 1994, every assessee is required to file return electronically irrespective of the value of taxable services provided.

Thus u are required to file return online.

02 December 2011 YES, AS PAR RECENT AMENDMENT IN RULE 7 OF SERVICE TAX RULES,1994 EVERY ASSESSEE IS REQUIRED TO FILE RETURN ELECTRONICALLY IRRESPECTIVE OF THE VALUE OF TAXABLE SERVICE IS ZERO. YOU MAY FILE SERVICE TAX RETURN IN ELECTRONIC MODE OTHERWISE YOU MAY FACE PENELTY FROM THE EXCISE AUTHORITIES.
