If your GST registration was cancelled due to non-filing of returns for 6 continuous months, and the cancellation order was rejected by the officer due to delay in revocation application, but later the appellate authority has passed an order in your favor, yet your GSTIN is still inactive, hereโs what you can do:
Why GSTIN is still inactive: Even after the appellate authority's favorable order, the GST portal may take some time to update the status.
Sometimes, the portal requires the proper compliance of revocation procedure after the appellate order.
The jurisdictional GST officer (AO) may have to manually update or process the revocation based on the appellate order.
What to do next: Submit a copy of the appellate order to your jurisdictional GST officer (AO): Request the officer to process the revocation of cancellation in light of the appellate order.
File a revocation application if not done already: Under Section 30 of CGST Act, revocation of cancellation must be done within 30 days from the date of communication of cancellation order. If the appellate authority has set aside the cancellation, submit this info to the AO.
Follow up with the GST helpdesk: Raise a ticket on the GST portal citing the appellate order and seek restoration of your registration.
If delay persists, you may approach the Appellate Tribunal or consider legal help.
Summary: GST portal status remains inactive until AO updates it post appellate order.
Send appellate order to AO and request revocation.
