Dear all is it mandatory to submit rent agreement to your employer if you pay rent of more than Rs.3000/- for claiming the deduction of HRA by any ammendment. i think only rent receipt is sufficient

yyou have to submit the rent agreement .It is the document supporting the rent.

There is no mandatory requirement as such but you cannot prevent your Employer from asking you to furnish such details as would satisfy him about appropriatness of your 'claim'for rent payment. This is more an administrative than judicial matter
