03 August 2010 I am an Engineering professional working in a an MNC would like to open my own consultancy services.
Initially i dont plan any posh offices and hence would work from home. Being an engineering consultancy i would use a temp office in mumbai.
What all are the registration / tax regn required to start my firm. As my expected clients would indian business houses most of them insist for Service tax regn.

04 August 2010 Professional consultancy only can register under service tax, register in to www.aces.gov.in and fill the ST-1 submit the documets ( ID Proof/address proof/PAN code details) with the department in hard copy

04 August 2010 Thank you for your reply. Should i proceed for ST before reaching the limit of 9 Lakhs or can i wait? Any other regn is required in the initial period if i dont proceed for ST

04 August 2010 Since the Basic thershold exemption s Rs.10 Lakhs you can wait up to turnover reach Rs.9 lakhs then you proceed for registration
