04 January 2015 Dear Sir,
Our one unit is already registered under excise act, we have installed unit no.2 in the same name as the name of unit - 1 which is already registered. The manufacturing product is same. Pl let us know does we added the unit-2 under existed registration number or to get new registration ? please also help me for procedure for the same

20 July 2025 Regarding your query about registering Unit-2 under the Excise Act when you already have Unit-1 registered, here’s the clarification and procedure:

🔹 Can you add Unit-2 under existing Excise Registration?

No, each manufacturing unit located at a different address must be registered separately under the Excise Act.
Even if the unit is owned by the same company and produces the same product, the registration number is specific to the manufacturing location.
🔹 What should you do for Unit-2?

You need to apply for a new excise registration number for Unit-2.
The Excise Department treats each unit as a separate factory for registration and compliance.
🔹 Procedure for new Excise Registration of Unit-2:

Application: File application in Form ER-1 (or relevant excise registration form) for the new unit.
Documents to submit:
Proof of unit address (electricity bill, lease deed)
Factory license or Factory Registration certificate
Company incorporation documents
PAN & TAN details
Details of products to be manufactured
Inspection: Excise officers may inspect the new unit before granting registration.
Issuance of Registration Number: Once satisfied, the department issues a new Excise Registration Number specific to Unit-2.
🔹 Additional notes:

You must maintain separate records, returns, and compliance for each excise registration.
If units are located in different states, separate registrations are mandatory.
