Am establish prop.business as clearing n forwarding agent for export/import, so i know about should i had registered in service tax, if tournover is not less than basic limit for registration in ser. tax

20 February 2014 If your gross receipts exceed Rs. 9 lakhs you are required to get yourself registered under service tax.

20 February 2014 g.receipts is not exceeds 9 lakhs, bt if we want to registered ourself in service tax so can we do or not...

20 July 2025 Hey! To answer your question about voluntary registration under Service Tax (as per rules before GST came into effect):

If your gross receipts (turnover) do not exceed Rs. 9 lakhs, you are not mandatorily required to register for Service Tax.
However, you can opt for voluntary registration even if turnover is below Rs. 9 lakhs.
This means you can get registered voluntarily.
But keep in mind, once registered, you will have to comply with all Service Tax rules, including:
Filing periodic returns
Paying Service Tax on taxable services
Maintaining records as required
So, voluntary registration is allowed, but it also means taking on compliance responsibilities.
