21 February 2014 Dear Experts,

We have a manufacturing unit in Gujarat. Just all set to start the commercial production as from March, 2014. Need to know if we can avail SSI exemption and what is the procedure to avail the same. Do we need to apply for registration or else.
Please guide.

23 February 2014 You should wait for the turnover of 1.5cr. No need to registration of central excise and no need to pay excise duty. After this turnover or after 1.4cr you should registered with excise. You have option that can pay the excise duty from 1st day and take the cenvat credit.

Please guide me on below as well:
SSI units can avail cenvat credit on capital goods only after clearance exceeds Rs. 150 lacs.
The case is - Machine purchased in Sept 2013. Commercial production started in Feb 2014. Availed SSI exemption in 2014. total clearance 2013-14 didnt exceed Rs. 400/150 Lacs. could not claim cenvat on machine in year 2013-14.
Year 2014-15, SSI exemption availed. clearance exceeds Rs 150 Lacs.
Now, can we claim cenvat in the year 2014-15 and also, if it is not fully availed, can it be carried forward to next year.
