20 April 2010 Dear Sir,

I want to change my principle place of business from one city to another city in same state then what we do?

I have Rs. 5.00 Lacs credit in old registration if we change the city then how the same credit is carried forward?

Pls give me the proper way to change the principal place of business and impact of the same?

27 April 2010 you can file form ST 1 for said change / amend in your ST 2 (reg. certificate). there is no bar in laws for Input (CENVAT) due to this change i.e. you can claim CENVAT

20 July 2025 When you want to change your principal place of business from one city to another within the same state (under Service Tax regime, as per your 2010 context), here’s what you should do:

✅ Procedure to Change Principal Place of Business:
File Amendment in ST-1 (ACES Portal):
Log in to ACES Portal.
File an amendment to your registration via Form ST-1 to update the new principal address.
Choose “Amendment in Registration” option and update the new business address.
Submit Supporting Documents:
Proof of new address (electricity bill, rent agreement, property tax, etc.).
Authorization/consent letter if the property is not owned.
Identity proof and PAN card (if required by the local office).
Jurisdiction Transfer:
Since cities are changing, your jurisdiction may change.
File an application with your current Commissionerate (old city — Jaipur) to initiate transfer to the new Commissionerate.
🧾 CENVAT Credit Impact:
You can carry forward your Rs. 5 lakh CENVAT credit — there's no restriction under CENVAT Credit Rules due to change of address within the same state.
Ensure the credit details are updated in your ST-3 return.
Maintain proper documentation during the change to establish continuity of the business and credit.
🏢 Where to File the Application?
You should start with your existing jurisdiction:

File the amendment and transfer request with the Commissionerate where your existing (old) registration is located — i.e., Jaipur.
They will process the amendment and transfer the jurisdiction to the new city.
After transfer, the new Commissionerate (new city) will issue the updated ST-2 certificate.
