14 December 2010 what if water and electricity bills are received on the name of Head Office address and not on current address of Factory?

14 December 2010 What is your question? I could not understand. If your address has been changed , just inform the authorities, and request for change the address.

15 December 2010 Thanks for the response.
My question is that whether any risk or financial impact is there if registration of factory at Dombivili is done in the name of Head office which is at Bandra?
and not want to change in future.

20 July 2025 Thanks for the clarification! Here’s the insight on your situation:

Issue:
Factory registration address at Dombivili
Utility bills (water & electricity) are in the name of Head Office at Bandra
You do not want to change the registration address in future
Possible Risks & Financial Impact:
Mismatch in Address Proof:
Utility bills are commonly used as proof of address for registrations, licenses, and inspections.
If the factory is registered at Dombivili but utility bills are in Bandra, authorities might question the validity of the factory location proof.
Inspection & Compliance Issues:
During inspections by authorities (e.g., factories inspector, municipal bodies, pollution control board), this mismatch may raise concerns.
You may be asked to produce valid proof that the factory is indeed located at Dombivili.
Legal/Statutory Implications:
Certain permissions or licenses require proof of utilities at the registered factory premises.
Lack of such proof could delay approvals or lead to penalties if found non-compliant.
Taxation & Auditing:
For tax and audit purposes, the registered factory location should ideally have corresponding utility bills.
Discrepancies may invite scrutiny or questions from tax authorities.
Best Practices:
Ideally, utility bills should be in the name of the factory address to avoid any compliance risk.
If bills in the Head Office name are unavoidable, keep additional proof of possession/ownership of the factory premises (e.g., lease deed, ownership documents).
Inform relevant authorities about the arrangement to avoid misunderstandings.
Consult with legal or compliance experts specific to your industry and jurisdiction.
Conclusion:
It’s not illegal to have utility bills in Head Office name, but it may cause operational and compliance difficulties.
To minimize risk, keep clear documentation supporting your factory’s existence at Dombivili.
If you foresee inspections or audits soon, it might be safer to get utilities transferred or bills generated at the factory premises.
