25 November 2012 Sir, One of my client Claim for Refund cheque , but Now he is located in another place/city . Now he wants to ask his refund cheque for the assesment year 2012-13 at new address which is different from address given in ITR and also from Pan Database. When I call to customer care executive then he said that you can call it even at new address also, for this go to My account/Request for Refund Reissue. But Now IT efiling website has become chang and now when I goto MY ACCOUNT/REFUND REISSue Request I am getting that there is no refund failure, jabki Refund Cheque by post aa kar undeliver hone se wapas chala gaya hai aur Refund Status bhi REFUND UNPAID dikha raha hai.WHAT TO DO ? When I tell the same to online helpline then he again telling to do the same.
Secondly There is No option in MY ACCOUNT>SERVICE>Refund Ask at NEW ADDRESS. PlZ HELP.

26 November 2012 You have to adopt the following steps:

1. Fill PAN correction form to update the address.

2. Write a letter to SBI, Mumbai with copy to CPC, Bangalore.

3. Attach a copy of the PAN card and a cancelled cheque of the bank account.

27 November 2012 Thanks sir, for your quick reply. BUT MY client has no cheque and he wants to call paper cheque at new address which is differ than pan data and itr written address and i came to know that we can ask paper cheque even at newest address also and in that case there is no need to take same action as suggested by you above and for this on line new address need to update with refund reissue option under my account/services/refund reissue request. But when i am doing the same when getting message of NO refund failure. Now what to do? PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM NOT.

20 July 2025 Here’s what’s happening and what you can do regarding your client’s refund cheque:

Situation Recap:
Refund cheque for AY 2012-13 was returned undelivered at the old address.
Refund status shows "Refund Unpaid".
Client’s current address is different from address in PAN and ITR.
On the new Income Tax e-filing portal, refund reissue option shows “No refund failure”, so you can’t raise reissue request online.
Client does not have a cheque leaf to update bank details or request ECS refund.
Key Points & Suggestions:
Online Refund Reissue Request:
The portal only allows refund reissue request if the refund status is “Refund Failure.”
Since the status is “Refund Unpaid,” the portal won’t allow online reissue.
Address Update:
Ideally, update the client’s address in PAN database first using PAN correction (Form 49A).
Also update address in ITR by filing a revised return or correction request (if allowed).
Manual Refund Reissue Process:
Since the cheque was returned and online reissue is not possible, you need to:
Write a formal letter to CPC Bangalore requesting refund cheque reissue to the updated address.
Attach copies of proof of new address, PAN card, and ITR acknowledgement.
Send the letter preferably via registered post or speed post.
Bank Details & Cheque:
If ECS refund is not possible due to no cheque leaf, refund will be issued as a physical cheque.
In your letter, clearly mention the new address where cheque should be sent.
Follow Up:
Keep track of your communication.
After a few weeks, check refund status on the portal.
You may also contact CPC helpdesk with refund details and request status update.
Summary:
Step Action
Update PAN address Submit PAN correction form
Update ITR address (optional) File revised return or correction
Request refund reissue Write letter to CPC Bangalore with proofs
Provide new address & ID proofs Attach to letter for manual reissue
Follow-up Track status on portal and with CPC helpdesk
