22 May 2012 Respected sir, hello
i m a ca final student. i want to give an i.a.s. exam after c.a completion . but i did not done the graduation . and i listened from somebody that for appear in this exam graduation is compulsory. what should i do? complete the graduation from ignou but i m afraid that this one yr. course can helpful for i.a.s. exams or not in which only we have to give some selected papers to get graduation degree? it can be full graduation from their point of view? or only ca degree basis without graduation will be enough to appear in this exam ?if ca degree enough for this purpose then i will not do the graduation. plz reply as soon as possible thanks in advance.what should i do? do graduation or not ? or ca degree only is more than sufficient for my this purpose?

23 May 2012 Educational Qualifications for writing IAS exam are as under:

The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.

NOTE:

Candidates who have appeared at an examination which would educationally qualify them for the UPSC examination but have not received the the results will also be eligible for admission to the Preliminary Examination. They will have to produce the proof of passing the requisite examination with their application for the Main Examination.
In exceptional cases, UPSC may treat a candidate who has not any of the foregoing qualifications as a qualified candidate, provided that he has passed examination conducted by other Institutions, which UPSC deems fit.

Candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications, recognised by Government as equivalent to professional and technical degree would also be eligible for admission to the examination.

In India, only Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is legislatively competent to award the degree of CA. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is the premier professional accountancy body of the country, established in July 1949 to regulate the profession of Chartered Accountancy in India.

So you need not worry. You can give your civil services exam after attaining CA Degree.
