Please guide which book should I refer for FM self study for May 2016 exams other than Shridhar?
Is S.D.Bala and V.Pattabhiram a good book??

Yes.SD BALA AND V PATTABHIRAM book is very good to understand concepts easily.you can refer this book along with study material and practise manual(only for solving problems) will be enough.

I have not refere JB gupta book, but it is generally bought along with his DVD lectures.So if you want to go self study with his vedio lectures you can choose jb gupta,sample lecture vedios of jbgupta available in you tube also.
but i prefer buying sd bala and pattabhiram and all concepts are explained very easily in this book.if you really need some coaching you can get many vedio lectures in youtube you just need to search
