Regarding applicablity of service tax on dismantling service

18 August 2012 Dear Freinds,

My Client is a Contractors who undertakes works as contractor or Sub contractor for Dismantling of Building & Commercial Constructions & complete such tasks by hiring labour it own. my query is whether he would be liable for service tax payment if he crossess the exemption limit under Service tax for small service provider...... & if taxable than under which head.........
please reply as soon as possible

18 August 2012 The service of dismantling etc. is a taxable service. For account code we eed to wait for a while. Actually, the codes should have been circulated by now, but still awaited.

18 August 2012 If he is a sub-contractor there is no liability for him as the value of the sub-contractor will be included in the main contractor's bill under Rule 2A. But if he himself doing works contract service (both material and labour) he has to get himself registered under the Act after availing the first 10 lacs in the year. Now there is no seperate head for getting RC. Only one head. viz.."services other than in the negative list"
