Reg proforma invoice

I have issued a proforma invoice to my customer. But the contract did not materialise & contract was cancelled before providing any service. Neither service was provided nor any advance was received. Now do I have to pay service tax because I have issued proforma invoice? (because under point of taxation rules, invoice includes any bill or challan)

The ans is no as there is no service provided and there is no valid legal transaction incurred.
