Refund for late filing of it returns

Dear Sirs.,
I have filed my return of Income for the A.Y 2011-12 and 2012-13 as on December 2013.And return for A.Y 2010-11 as on January 2014 with a refund of Rs.50,000 for A.Y 2010-11.I have approached IT Dept for refund but they asked me to submit condonation for delay for late filing.Help me in this regarding wat is condonation and procedure for getting refund????Thank you

you need to file for condonation under section 119(2) since the return you are filing for AY 2010-11 is time barred..

last date for the A Y 2011-12 was 31.3.2013 and you file the return in dec -13.
for that return you have to file condonation.

you need to file application on a plain paper requesting condondation of delay in filing of return along with request for issue of refund. please attach computation of income and tax liability thereon, along with the application
