08 February 2013 dear sir, my client has to fill e return for AY 12-13 and AY 11-12 through ITR2. now in 12-13 u/s 139(4) will be applied, but in AY 11-12 which section will be applied. also make me understand that which AY should be filled first?

You can't file ay 11-12 return now as time limit of 1 year from the end of assessment is over. You can file only 12-13 return now.

11 February 2013 The time limit for filing a belated return for AY 2011-12 ends on 31.03.2013. You still have a month and half left
File AY 2011-12 first since time is short.
Then file the next year
Ass uch there is no chronological restriction to file either of return other than the due date.
