Can anyone please explain the difference between purchase tax and input vat tax under Vat.

synonyms are sparingly used in the Commercial world. We need to understand this in the CONTEXT in which the words are used. Excise, Service tax and VAT people will use the word INPUT. Sales tax people used to say "purchase tax" (Now understand the synonym...sales tax and VAT)
