Purchase invoice date or goods receiving date

I am confused. Please tell me the following query's answer.
I had received an invoice on 28-Mar-2012 (FY.2011-12). and goods received on 15-April-2012 (FY.2012-13).
So Which date i put into the accounts. Is this invoice will enter on FY.2011-12 or FY.2012-13.
But the inventory added on FY.2012-13

Help immediately.

18 October 2012 The criteria to record the same transaction is the invoice date......but now i think accounts of Fy 2011-12 of your company would also have been finalized so its better to record it in Fy 2012-13.

Now I could understand it will be entered on Invoice date. If we have received goods after the 31-Mar-2012. we have used in Tally Accounts with inventory. So how to enter Inventory into Purchase Journal. (If Purchase journal entered on time ie.On 28-03-2012, Inventory received after 3weeks later)
