Dear Sir/Madam,
can i start my proprietorship firm with any name. and is income tax liability on my name or my firm name

For Proprietor Firm you can choose any Name , same to be Registered With any of Government Establishment to open Current /ac in Trade Name like Shops and establishment License , PT , Service Tax , Vat Whichever Applicable same can be Register with Trade Name,
Income Tax Liability for Proprietorship on the Shoulder of Proprietor, Since PAN of Proprietor is Assessed For Tax for Firm, For Proprietorship Business there is no difference between Proprietor and business.

you can take any name which you want . due to prop. will the same, but its very care full for the name will remain same for the all act, many time at the time of registration spelling vary by deptt.
