08 May 2009 With effective 1st August 2008, professional tax slabs has been revised in Karnataka, I would like to share the details I have received on this.

Hitherto Profession Tax was applicable for Employees drawing salary of Rs3,000/- and above per month.Consequently,PT Payable was Rs30/- for Salary slab of Rs3,000/- to 4,999/-
W.E.F.1-08-2008, Employees drawing salary upto Rs4,999/-Per Month are exempted from payment of PT.The existing slab w.e.f.1-08-2008 is as below:

1.Rs5,000/-to Rs7,999/-- Rs60/-
2.Rs8,000/- to Rs9,999/- Rs100/-
3.Rs10,000/-to Rs14,999/- Rs150/-
4.Rs.15,000/- and above Rs200/-
