27 March 2010 Sir,
A proprietor is operating from Mumbai, he now wants to get his fabric processed at Ahmedabad and want to keep one employees on salary to maintain his godown only at ahmedabad.

WHether he has to take new profession tax number under gujrat state prof. tax or wil follow the Maharashtra State prof. tax rules.

27 March 2010 My view.you need to register,but PT act based on state you need to refer the Gujrat PT act

27 March 2010 If the person you are going to keep is permanent then you have to register with gujarat pt act and pay the pt there. If the person is temporary ie less than 6 months then you need not register there and you can continue to pay in mumbai itself.

conclusion

PT has to be registered with Gujarat state and not the Maharastra state But your answer is vary if the empolyment to the godown is just less than 6 month
