There is no prescribed books to maintain the register however it should contain the detials specified under CE Rules, 2002 (Rule 10) the due date for return is within 10 days after closer of the month

Manufacturer : RG-23A REGISTER, CENVAT REGISTER
DEALER : RG 23D REGISTER
If yor are Manufacturer file ER-1 AND ER-6 RETURNS BEFORE 10 TH OF THE SUCCEEDING MONTH.
If you are Dealer file a Dealer Return 15 th of succeding month of Each Quarter.
