Procedure to alter name in st-2 certificate

01 February 2013 My Original ST-2 Certificate is lost and know i want to change/update the name of my company in Service Tax Dept. records.
For which i have to file Form St-1 application online , Superintend is asking for original St-2 Certificate without it he will not change/update the name.
I wanted to know under which section of Fiance Act ,Procedure for change/alter details in ST-2 Certificate is prescribed .
Is it necessary to provide original ST-2 Certificate for change in Service Tax Dept. records

01 February 2013 yes original ST-2 is required for surrender or amendment in registration. But on submission of indemnity bond for lost of original RC officer must be satisfied.

else you can apply for Duplicate certificate and can present printout of below link ( FAQ issued by deptt.) in which at serial no. 2.17 department has answered that in case of lost of original certificate assessee is required to make a wrtitten request for Duplicate RC.
