Rate of service tax is a flat rate but where any service category has an abatement, rate should be arrived after subtracting the abatement rate proportionately.

Dear Harish,
The rate of Service Tax is 12.36% However in case of abatement in case of certiain services we have to tajke care in that respect .
Suppose in case of Outdoor caterers an abatement of 50% is provided.

the rate of service tax is 12% plus ec & hes. some specified services get abatements but there is no basic exemption in service tax, service tax liability starts from rs one there are nea above 100 taxable services which service you give that is not given in your quiry whether it is taxable or not
