Please explian the difference between joint venture and associate company.

20 December 2013 associate company is where you own less than 51% but exercise significant influence due to shareholding or board control.

whereas joint venture is a special entity floated by 2 or more enterprises or persons for a specific purpose or activity.

So an associate is more of a long term thing where as joint venture is more on short term side for eg Bharti - Walmart joint venture.
