Penality for late filling of NIL service tax return

01 December 2010 I want to file a service tax return for the first half of the year.

So, I want to know that there is any penalty for late filling of NIL service tax return.

Plz give as soon as possible.

01 December 2010 yes there is
Delay upto 15 days Rs. 500/-

Delay more than 15 days & less than 30 days Rs.1000/-

Delay more than 30 days Rs.1000/- + Rs.100/- for each day but not exceeding Rs.2000/-

02 December 2010 Yes Brother u r right...

But i want to know that in the case of NIL service tax return means no service tax is paid during the 1st half year i.e. April to sept, 2010.

is there any penality in above mention case?

02 December 2010 Do you know the Accounting Code for penalty of Delay ST-3 Return, for Input Service Tax Distributor.

02 December 2010 There is for NIL return also. I have paid for one of my cleints also.

Try to file without paying the penalty. If accepts then well and good. Otherwise you have to pay.
