Can do cash payment and cheque payment to a single person in a same day aggregating to Rs.40,000 (i.e., Rs.15,000- cash and Rs.25,000- cheque)? Is this will be disallowed under any section?

No dis allowance as cash payment not exceeded Rs. 20,000.

Yes you can pay, but as per sec 40 A(3) rule 6DD you can't make cash payment exceeding Rs.20000
