Dear Expert,
There is a partnership firm engaged in manufacturing of building bricks. In partnership deed firm has its head office at district Meerut (U.P.) whereas manufacturing unit (bhatta grade) is at district Baghpat(UP). Therefore all IT returns of the firm are being filed with Income tax office at Meerut (U.P.).
Now the partners are willing to shift firm head office from Meerut to the address of Bhatta grade which comes in District Baghpat.
In my opinion, procedure for the same is as follows.
1. Draft a revised partnership deed containing the said effect in preamble of deed.
2. Apply for pan correction form for address change in income tax.
Please advise me, whether the above procedure is sufficient and as the said event will take effect in July 2012, therefore where should IT return for AY 2012-13 be filed - at Meerut ward or ward Baghpat?

You can change the address through supplementary deed of partnership.

The procedure, you have narrated is Ok.

You can get file transferred to Baghpat, by filing Transfer Petitions to The ITO & CIT, Meerut. Intimate the ITO Baghpat, along with receipts of Baghpat AO, CIT.

On change of address in PAN you may e-file the Return on the new address.
