Pan required for exempt income

21 July 2013 Hi, I want to know if a person who is earning only exempt income requires a Pan card or not.??

and also if a person's only income is from a partnership firm which is exempt and has no other income does he need to obtain PAN card???

22 July 2013 Pan is mandatory only if the total income in the previous year exceeds the maximum amount which is not chargeable to tax.

so in your case pan is not required.
