Pan card change query

10 August 2014 Experts,

One of my clients has changed his surname, accordingly he has applied for PAN card change and surrendered the Original PAN Card along with the application of PAN change.

He received the new PAN Card. But the problem is, the number of his PAN Card was same in the new PAN Card issued, while in the allotment letter there was difference PAN no.

Now the question is which PAN no. will be valid (the one showing in the PAN card or the one mentioned in the allotment letter).

He is filing ITRs from last few years with the new PAN no. (showing in the PAN allotment letter).

What is the remedy for this, please guide me how to resolve the issue.

11 August 2014 the PAN card number should remain same as the old PAN. Kindly contact nearest TIN-facilitation center.

11 August 2014 It appears that both of the PANs are active, kindly contact AO with surrender letter and allotment letter.

11 August 2014 pls make enquiry with the PAN centre customer care number. your old PAN is vaild may possible allotment letter wrongly send by the deptt.
