Outstanding tax demand

(Querist)
15 November 2017 One of my client filed income tax return for AY 2011-12 on 07/02/2012. While filing return mentioned as male instead of female but tax computation was done according to slabs of female, as a result there is an outstanding demand which was carried forward till now. How to rectify now?? Is there any possibility to rectify now or else has to pay the amount?
